SUCCESS AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS – 11 & 12 JULY 2009 - Added on: Tuesday, July 21, 2009
Congratulations to all riders who recently took part in the RDA National Championships at Hartpury, Gloucestershire. Edinburgh and Borders Region were well represented over the two days of competition and it proved to be a most successful event.
On day one first honours came to Berwickshire Group who won the Vaulting Class and the Fred Trophy. The team were Murray Shiells, Christopher Lyons, Anthea Drysdale, Charlie Lochhead, Ciaran Bowie and Reece Logan lunged by Rebecca Morgan on her own Big Guinness.
Well done to Tracey Brown from Muirfield Group in her first National Championship riding a horse she only met the day before to be 2nd in Grade 1b Dressage, and 3rd in Grade 1b Dressage to Music. Thank you to Gill Morrison and Haley Kirkpatrick who assisted Tracey on the day.
Against stiff competition Berwickshire Group came 6th in the Themed Musical Video with a Walk for Oklahoma.
Glory on day two came to Ettrick and Dryden Group who won the Arts and Crafts Class with their painting and sculpture representing RDA's 40th Birthday. Many congratulations to their team of artists - Martyn Thomson, Aaron Fulton, Helen Ann White, Scott Brown and James Lyall.
Judging of the Breyer Horse competition to identify RDA’s 40th Anniversary Horse or Pony took place over the weekend. There were over 120 entries with some selected for display. Samson from Terally Bay Group was one of those short-listed for display and looked splendid.

REGIONAL DRESSAGE CHAMPIONSHIP - Added on: Tuesday, June 16, 2009 THE DRUM – 31 MAY 2009
Over 40 riders from five different Groups recently competed in the Edinburgh and South of Scotland Regional Dressage Championship. The event was held at the Drum, Edinburgh on a gloriously sunny day.
With tests to suit all abilities, it was wonderful to watch everyone doing their best, which was a testament to the amount of time volunteers invested in preparing riders and ponies. Several riders qualified to compete at the RDA National Championships at Hartpury in July and we wish them the best of luck and hope that they bring the prizes back to Scotland.
Our Regional Chairman Margaret Morgan congratulated all riders for the quality of competition, and thanked the Drum Team for organising another highly successful day.

REGIONAL DINNER & INSTRUCTOR’S CONFERENCE – 1 & 2 FEB 09 - Added on: Wednesday, February 18, 2009REGIONAL DINNER & INSTRUCTOR’S CONFERENCE – 1 & 2 FEB 09
Over 40 braved the threatening weather to meet and enjoy an excellent evening at the Mallard Hotel, Gullane. The table allocation meant that from the outset new acquaintances were made, and ideas exchanged, over an excellent supper. Our National Chairman Jane Holderness-Roddam gave a very amusing account of her life in the saddle, highlighting eventing team gold at the Mexico Olympics with Our Nobby, later successes at an International and National level with Warrior, and her acting and advisory role on the set of International Velvet. She even proffered advice on how to deal with a truculent teenager.
The Conference, held at the Drum, was split into a series of workshops followed read more ...
